Rotator Cuff Rehab Exercises are an important part of the treatment process for rotator cuff injuries and pain. If you feel any type of pain, stiffness or weakening in your rotator cuff you may require rotator cuff rehab exercises to strengthen your rotator cuff muscles. If you've had rotator cuff surgery then you also need to practice rotator cuff rehab exercises to gently restore strength and prevent future injuries.
Either with a physical therapist or other help, doing rotator cuff rehab exercises is a great program that will permit you to keep flexibility and bring blood flow to your rotator cuff muscles, preventing the stiffening of these.
However do not rush into rotator cuff rehab exercises; if you've had rotator cuff surgery many doctors will prohibit any rotator cuff rehab exercises for 1-2 weeks. During this time try not to force your rotator cuff into too much movement.
There are two types of rotator cuff rehab exercises that will be useful for your recovery:
- Stretching and "range of motion" exercises. These will help bring blood flow and prevent the stiffening of the muscles.
- Strength exercises to stabilize your shoulder. This will strengthen your rotator cuff muscles gently and prevent future injuries.
